The Gaels are making a statement in the OUA playoffs

Four Queen’s team won OUA championships this past weekend and more moved on to the next round of the playoffs.

Queen's Women's Rugby

The Queen's Women's Rugby Team after winning the OUA championship.

It’s an exciting time for the Queen’s Gaels as four teams won OUA championships last weekend and others are vying for titles.

The Gaels won the OUA Women’s Rugby Championship, defeating the Guelph Gryphons 61-21 at Nixon Field on campus. This marks the third time in four years that Queen’s Women’s Rugby have been conference champions. They now head to Vancouver to play in the U SPORTS National Championship. Queen’s Women’s Rowing also took home an OUA title, winning their third straight OUA Rowing Championship in St. Catharines. The Men’s Rowing team took part in the competition as well, finishing third.

Queen’s Cross Country swept the OUA Cross Country Championships with team wins in both the women’s and men’s race. Jude Wheeler-Dee won the individual title on the Men’s side as well.

The Queen’s Men’s Rugby team made a statement win this past weekend, defeating the McMaster Marauders 106-0 in the first round of the OUA playoffs. They will play in the OUA semifinals on Nov. 1.

Queen’s Football also won in the first round of the OUA playoffs. They defeated the McMaster Marauder 46-10 at Richardson Stadium. The Gaels will take on the Windsor Lancers next weekend during the OUA semifinals.

Queen’s Women’s Soccer played Guelph in the OUA semifinals this past weekend and were defeated 4-0. They had finished the regular season 9-2-1 and beat the Nipissing Lakers in the OUA quarterfinals.
