It’s a real pleasure to welcome Dr. Aaron Shugar, our new Bader Chair in Art Conservation (Analytical Imaging). With his wealth of experience and knowledge, he will be a wonderful addition to the program, department and Queen’s community. Conservation science student Katelin Hallchurch interviewed Aaron in the spring of 2023, just before joining Queen’s.
÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ M.A. student Annelies Verellen has just returned from Belgium, where she spent an illuminating 10 days in the Flemish Art Collection's summer course, Study of the Arts in Flanders - The Age of Rubens.
Congratulations to ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Art Conservation alumni who attended the Canadian Association for Cultural Property's 28th Annual Conference in Victoria, B.C.! Presentations were given by Sally Kim (M.A.C. '19) on soft sculptures, and by Jonah Halili (M.A.C. '23) on the drying behaviours of modern oil paints. Additionally, Robin Canham (M.A.C. '22) received the CAC's Emerging Conservator Award.

Congratulations to ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Master of Art Conservation alumna Sally Gunhee Kim (M.A.C. '19), who is the recipient of not one, but two awards from the American Institute for Conservation!
After an intensive search, the Bader Chair in Art Conservation position has been awarded to Dr. Aaron Shugar. Dr. Shugar -- currently the Mellon Foundation Professor in the Art Conservation Department at the State University of New York, Buffalo State University -- holds a Ph.D.
Congratulations to ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Art History Professor Emeritus Pierre du Prey and co-author Anatole Tchikine, who received the Elisabeth Blair MacDougall Award from the Society of Architectural Historians for their book, (Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collections, 2021).
÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Art History had significant representation at the 2023 annual Association for Art History conference, held at University College London!
