Nicholas Rose

About

Nicholas Rose is a first-year PhD candidate, working under the supervision of Professor Amitava Chowdhury. He completed his BA in History at Carleton University, and his MA in Contemporary International History at the University of Toronto, which was supported by a SSHRC grant.

His work examines the interaction between the British and American empires following the First World War. Nicholas is broadly interested in international relations history, the British Empire in the twentieth-century, and political culture.

Alongside his research, Nicholas is passionate about the local history of Kingston, Ontario. In particular, he is interested in the architecture of Edward Horsey, his direct ancestor and one of the architects of the Kingston Penitentiary.
