Cultivating Urban Agrarianism through explorations of place: A case study of the Compost Education Centre
Celia (she/they) is a 2nd year MES student supervised by Dr. Kristen Lowitt. She has a background in biological anthropology, which sparked her interest in human-environment interactions. Currently, Celia is studying the ways in which humans interact with each other, non-humans, and land in place-based NGO settings, to explore how these interactions might contribute to beliefs and actions that support food movements.

Rethinking Remediation: Care, Community Knowledge, and Environmental Futures at Kwet谋台谋台蓚a脿 (Rayrock)
What comes after mine closure? Drawing on research conducted in partnership with the T艂谋台ch谦 Government, this presentation explores community perspectives on environmental futures at Kwet谋台谋台蓚a脿 (Rayrock), a former uranium mine in the Northwest Territories. Moving beyond purely technical models of remediation, it highlights how relationships to land, care, and community knowledge shape alternative understandings of post-extractive futures.
Anya Joyce is a Master of Environmental Studies candidate at 魅影直播. Her research examines environmental governance, community engagement, and post-extractive futures, with a focus on northern and Indigenous contexts. She works in partnership with the T艂谋台ch谦 Government and as a consultant on community engagement and environmental planning.
