This course explores the poetry, politics, and cultural transformations of the Romantic period (roughly 1789-1834). It considers the work of novelists such as Jane Austen and Mary Shelley, essayists such as Thomas De Quincey, and poets such as William Blake, William Wordsworth, Lord Byron, and John Keats
